Rod Pedralba was born in Southern Philippines and was trained as an architectural draftsman prior to coming to Vancouver in 1974 as a landed immigrant.

He pursued his passion for painting when he met his Mentor, SYM Sofronio Y Mendoza a renowned Filipino Canadian Artist. His other influence includes Robert Bateman, Harris Ching, The Group of Seven, 19th and 20th Century Masters.

Rod has mastered the use of variety of mediums such as:  acrylic, oil, watercolor and pastel.  He started painting with a blend of realistic and impressionistic styles.

His recent works has evolved into a modern vision characterized by a harmonious pattern of shapes creating a unique form of Cubism. Rod’s dynamic, imaginative expression and composition, creates a distinct touch of vibrant complementary and analogous colours. As a predominant “Nature Artist”, he logically and rhythmically transformed these images into works of art.

His subject matter comprises of wildlife, landscapes and human interest. His wildlife subject was the category in which he won two major awards sponsored by the Western Art Circle. It was the Picture of The Year Award and Best of The Show Award 86/87.

Rod is a member of the prestigious Dimasalang III International Group of Artists in Vancouver which was formed by their Leader, SYM Sofronio Y. Mendoza.

Dimasalang III International Group of Artist is currently having an exhibit at the Surrey Art Gallery which was opened to the public May 2 and will wind up July 4, 2015.
