According to the Prince George Pinoy Basketball League’s Facebook page, there will be consequences for those who were involved in an altercation during an October 17th game. Here’s what was posted on the PGPBL Facebook page:
“The Prince George Pinoy Basketball League announced that there will be consequences for those involved in the October 17th incident which resulted in an altercation and fighting during the game.
“Disciplinary action has been sanctioned for those involved in the incident which resulted in the ejection of five players by the lead referee and the calling off of the game after one of the teams walked out.
“The PGPBL Committee, a body of 18 members, convened on October 18 and October 25 to launch an investigation. Statements were gathered from both players and witnesses. These statements were then collected and sent to each individual Committee member whose were tasked to review the statements and deliberate on the case.
“At the special general meeting on October 25, the Committee issued disciplinary sanctions on 6 members who were involved directly and indirectly. Affected were John Victorino, Bobby Sibal, Leonard Castro, Jay Aningga, Matt Fowler, and Mike Nequinto. The disciplinary action for the players ranged from a one game suspension to a five game suspension.
“At the same October 25th meeting, the Committee declared that Game Two resulted in a double forfeiture. It means that on the official score sheet it was recorded as a loss for each team.
“Regular games will continue after the Halloween/Feast of All Saints Day weekend, on November 7, 2015.
“In consultation with the referees at Basketball BC, changes officiating referees starting on November 7th will be implemented to reflect the commitment the PGPBL to the game and ensure a safe game play off and fun.
“The PGPBL is committed to providing a healthy and safe environment for all of its players, officials, and spectators. Going forward, the Committee will do whatever it can to ensure that the environment will be conducive to fostering sportsmanship and fun for everyone.”
