Longtime Vancouver resident and Caring Hearts chairman Elena Agala flew to the Philippines recently to lead five local dentists, 20 dental team and 60 volunteers in a mission to distribute medical equipment and supplies. The group will also conduct medical and dental outreach to those in need. They will also oversee Rotary World Help donations to the Philippines which includes 80 containers of hospital equipment like hospital beds, ultrasound machine, dental chairs and equipment, computers, educational books, sports equipment and medical supplies and four fire trucks.
A past director of Rotary World Help, a non-profit organization, Agala explained to MVI News that she conducts yearly inspection starting year 2000 at her own expense. “Only Rotary clubs are authorized recipients. No politicians or even any religious groups can received these donations. The whole operation is deemed a success and with my personal inspection insures that I have reports on those who are recipients of our donations.”
On other Rotary World Help donations, she boasts: “We are going to have a turnover ceremony of two 40-foot container donations that are mainly firefighting equipment with Canadian Ambassador Neil Reeder attending the ceremony on March 5 in Manila.”
The dental team is scheduled to travel to poverty stricken places in Casiguran, Sorsogon, and Panglao, in Bohol this month of February, 2016.
Rotary World Help is a non-profit organization aimed at collecting and distributing medical equipment & supplies, dental, optical, education & sports equipment and disaster relief supplies to international recipients in need.
