Having earned the distinction and prestigious title as the Mother Organization endorsed by then former Premier of British Columbia, Honorable Mike Harcourt, in January 1994, the oldest Filipino association in BC, FABC, continues to make their active presence and contribution since the late 1950’s formed by the first Filipino families that migrated to BC.
History shows that some members broke away to form their own group but the FABC persisted through the challenges and hard times. Many members remained dedicated and loyal despite differences in opinions and interests, thus marking a strong sense of leadership in the Filipino-Canadian community.
On February 27th, FABC held its first event of 2016 at the Holiday Inn, Downtown Vancouver, to celebrate a late Valentine dance and induction of its officers. Prestigious members, supporters and guests of honour Philippine Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer and wife Miriam graced the occasion.
Twice-elected president of FABC, Carl J. Pradas was enthusiastic to meet all the guests in the downtown venue on one of the busiest Saturday nights. Light snacks, short program, dancing, photo ops and lots of selfies summed up the event of the vibrant Filipino Canadian zoomers who started it all.
FABC is a non-profit organization and its membership is general, non-inclusive and non-territorial. It doesn’t discriminate faith, origin, sex, age, scholarship achievement, career or interest.
