Local BC artist Luisa Marshall included in Ellen’s Squad war with Taylor Swift

Upset that she was not included in Taylor Swift’s Squad, Ellen decided to create her own.

During the comedian’s opening monologue, Ellen spoke of how many performers got their start on her show. “We’ve had Taylor Swift here several, several times,” Ellen said. “Would I say that she owes everything to me? I sure would. Yes.”

Feeling a little left out, Ellen then spoke about Taylor Swift’s squad – which she jokingly referred to as a posse for white people. Swift’s squad consists of famous gal pals including, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne, Lena Dunham and Selena Gomez.

“Guess who’s not in it?” DeGeneres then asked the audience. She pointed to herself saying, “this gal right here.” Ellen added, “it’s messed up alright. Don’t get me riled up. But I don’t even want to be in Taylor’s dumb squad because I’m announcing today… I have my own squad, and it’s even ‘squadier’ than her squad.”

Ellen then introduced the members of her squad and called out DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy from Full House, Carrot Top, Tina Turner, The News from Huey Lewis and The News, Bob Harper, Isaac the bartender from The Love Boat, Nick Carter, Alf and Selena Gomez.

Since music legend Tina Turner probably wasn’t available, Luisa Marshall, an award winning Tina Turner Tribute artist, was called in by Ellen at the last minute as her stand in. When Luisa Marshall came out and was introduced as Tina Turner by Ellen herself, the audience visibly jumped off their seats and cheered the longest of all the other stars introduced. The pair then got together and danced to one of Tina’s signature Proud Mary moves.

It seems that Luisa Marshall’s uncanny resemblance to the legendary Queen of Rock n Roll is so on point, that even the other members of Ellen’s star studded squad couldn’t tell the difference.

The first to get selfies going was the day’s guest Selena Gomez who had a makeup artist ask Luisa if it was okay to take some photos together.

“I’m not sure if the staff clarified with everyone that I wasn’t really Tina Turner,” Marshall said. “I think they mixed the real stars and tribute acts together for the squad. I was just so excited and felt so lucky to be part of it,” Luisa added.

Stand-up comedian Carrot Top complimented Luisa backstage saying, “you look fabulous.” While dancing with the Ellen Squad during the show he told her, “you look awesome.”

According to Marshall, she got a phone call mid day yesterday to fly to LA and was vaguely asked to be involved in “something” at Warner Brothers Studio in Burbank California. “As the day unfolded I was so surprised that I was going to be included in Ellen’s first Squad,” reported the stunned Marshall.

Luisa and her husband Steve were brought out to Ellen’s set to check out lighting and positioning for all the Squad members. The director, Peter, even asked Steve to stand in as one of the stars which Steve said he was more than happy to do. On the experience, Luisa’s husband said he was excited just to sit on the chair opposite Ellen’s where her guests sit. “That was very cool,” Steve said.

It seems amazing things happen every time Luisa and Steve head south to LA. Just last year, Luisa walked the red carpet when she was invited to the 2014 Golden Globes. She attended several after-parties where she was spotted with the likes of Taylor Swift, Oscar winner Jared Leto and Jon Voight.

Tonight, Luisa and Steve have been invited to a private screening of “Spotlight,” starring Michael Keaton. Stay tuned!

  1. I live in West Australia, born in UK and I saw your name while googling for information on my great aunt.
She was born Louisa H Marshall with a stage name of Sadie Crawford and was a british born musician in the early 1900’s and now accepted as the first british female to play with famous USA jazz bands visiting Europe at that time .
Good luck with your shows and I would like to see them when I next get a chance to visit Vancouver or Calgary where I have good friends.

    All the best, John Brown
