The Philippine Cultural Heritage Society in support of the City government of Burnaby, British Columbia will launch the first “Philippine Cultural Heritage Festival” on August 11, 2019, Sunday at Swangard Stadium, Grand Central Park, Burnaby

On July 11th, 2019, Mayor Mike Hurley proclaimed August 5th – 11th as Philippine Cultural Heritage Week in the city of Burnaby. The proclamation highlighted the Philippine national dance Tinikling that got the mayor and other city officials Councilor James Wang, MLA Mable Elmore (Vancouver-Kensington), MLA Anne Kang (Burnaby-Deer Lake), MLA Janet Routledge (Burnaby-North), MLA Raj Chouhan (Burnaby-Edmonds), M.P. Peter Julian (Burnaby-New Westminster) to try and step over and in between the poles.

Philippine Cultural Heritage Society founders Rey Calinisan (President-PCHS) and Victor Villamera (Executive Director-PCHS) welcome different communities, groups, businesses and societies all over Metro Vancouver to its first event that showcases the different colourful and fun-filled Philippine festivals, traditional dances, art, cuisine, display of famous Philippine tourism attractions and services. 

There will tons of activities throughout the day: parade, cultural dance showdown & mainstream performances, dances, Filipino cuisine, painting session, selfies with famous Philippine tourism destinations, hip hop dance contest and special performances by Burnaby’s very own Mayor Mike Hurley, local Vancouver actor/singer/songwriter Zenia Marshall, Maple Ridge Got Talent & Global TV Kids Chef winner Amarya Amro and Fil-American YouTube sensation Alex Villora. Also, rising star Filipino actor of the movie “Adik” Kevin Poblacion and popular Filipino Canadian star AC Bonifacio are also scheduled to make a special appearance.
