Liberal party leader Justin Trudeau made a courtesy call on President Aquino during his recent state visit to Canada. While no official statement was made by the Liberal Party, the informal visit, nonetheless heralds recognition of the Philippines as an important element in Canadian society by a soon-to-be dominant Canadian political party. There are now over 700,000 Filipinos in Canada with 136,000 in Vancouver, records show.
