The Truth behind Pinoy Buzz

0

Concerned members of the Filipino Community in the Greater Vancouver Area have reached out to MetroVan Independent News to investigate recent claims made by the notorious Janice Lozano. Lozano claims to be the CEO of Pinoy Buzz Media, as well as Regional Director Team Canada WCOPA, Secretary of UFCABC, and Management at Elements.

We’ve fact checked Lozano’s June 18, 2019 post regarding “Pinoy Buzz” and here is what we found.

Pinoy Buzz “TV SHOW”

Pinoy Buzz was not renewed on the Shaw Multicultural Channel. The show has not been on TV since at least September 2018 and is nowhere to be seen on the Shaw Multicultural Channel’s website of shows currently airing.

Janice Lozano stated that “Pinoy Buzz is the 1st Filipino-Canadian Celebrity talk show in Vancouver [sic] British Columbia.” Janice Lozano’s statement is NOT TRUE.

The facts are, Pinoy Buzz was not the first Filipino-Canadian Celebrity talk show in Vancouver. Simply the Best – the Luisa Marshall Show was aired on the Shaw Multicultural Channel well before Pinoy Buzz had their first episode. Also, when Simply the Best – the Luisa Marshall Show decided to go from a 60min show to a 30min show, they offered their airtime to Pinoy Buzz.

Pinoy Buzz “MAGAZINE”

Regarding Pinoy Buzz Magazine, while it may be true Pinoy Buzz Magazine started back in 2006, its circulation has not been seen since then and as of this writing.

Pinoy Buzz “THE CONCERTS”

Janice Lozano claims that Pinoy Buzz produced “Arnel Pineda Loves to Rock” in Vancouver back in July 2012 and Charice Pempengco at a later date. Contrary to Janice Lozano’s claims, the Charice Pempengco concert was produced by Connie Kriasky from Calgary, Alberta, and the “Arnel Pineda Loves to Rock” concert in Vancouver was actually produced by Ellen Sarmiento. In addition, Sarmiento alleges that Janice Lozano stiffed her for $8,000 (as was reported in Vancouver’s The Province Newspaper in 2013).

Conclusion

We caution the community to be vigilant and to do their research before making media deals with anyone. We have had numerous Filipino community members approach MetroVan Independent News regarding issues and court cases with Janice Lozano and the Juatco family.

MetroVan Independent News strives for the transparency that it sees is heavily lacking within the Filipino-Canadian Media in Vancouver, BC. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with us.
