Over the holidays, avid supporters of the local music scene put together a poll for their third annual “Local Band / Musician of the Year” award. The award is to make awareness of great releases and accomplishments made by homegrown Vancouver artists.
There were 10 nominees: Derrival, Failing Street, Gay Nineties, Good For Grapes, Hedley, Marianas Trench, Ria Jade, Tyler Skyy, Van Damsel, Within Rust.
And the winner of The Permanent Rain Press’ third annual “Local Band / Musician of the Year” award is singer/songwriter/TV host Ria Jade. Ria was featured on MetroVan Independent News – On Spotlight in the past and the team is so proud of her. Runner-Ups, Second Place: Tyler Skyy, Third Place: Failing Street, Fourth Place: Good For Grapes, Fifth Place: Within Rust, Sixth Place: Gay Nineties.
The community is proud of Ria’s accomplishments in a short span of her career. Her TV talk show “eveRIAthing” is celebrating its 3rd year on SMC, Shaw Multicultural Channel 116. Besides being a TV host, Ria takes pride on her ongoing advocacies for mental health and anti-bullying.
Her musical career has taken off to higher grounds when she wrote and performed “Snowflakes”, a song to promote understanding, hope and beauty in support of World Mental Health Day.
