There have been a few mysterious threats floating around the Filipino community lately.
Last January 7, 2016, MetroVan Independent News photographer Bert Morelos got a phone call from the Guilford Police that Rolly Fortaleza alleged there was an email threat sent to Rey Fortaleza apparently with a photo of Bert holding a gun.
Bert Morelos said he doesn’t own a gun or have a picture with a gun. Later on Supervisor Corporal Brain informed Bert that the investigation has been concluded and the Fortaleza’s have been notified.
This leaves Bert wondering who floated this nasty piece of black propaganda. His only other passion was Karaoke and ballroom dancing. Killing people is not his cup of tea as a long retired architect and gentleman.
It is a concern that the police won’t forward an original copy of this email to Bert. He may have to file before the courts a subpoena duces tecum to force the police to hand over evidence to his lawyer in a discovery session.
Morelos gets accused but doesn’t get the original email. We have asked Rey Fortaleza for a copy of the email. At press time he hasn’t forwarded anything.
The case is closed and Bert Morelos has been cleared.
