Surrey Pride makes history

The first ever Surrey Pride Parade takes place on June 26th, Sunday, starting at 11:30 a.m. facilitated by Sher Vancouver for LGBTQ South Asians and their friends, families, and allies.

Sher Vancouver founder Alex Sangha says, “let’s support Surrey Pride this weekend and make history together.”

“This 1 km route will commence at Surrey City Hall Plaza, and wind its way along University Boulevard to the “Surrey Pride Festival” at Holland Park. We invite you to walk with us, as WE CREATE HISTORY!! See everyone there!!  If walking, please be at City Hall by 11am.”

In the wake of the tragic Florida massacre of innocent lives at the Pulse Nightclub, Pride groups all over the world are mourning but making a bold statement that they are ready to come out and be proud. This is the first powerful step that Sher Vancouver undertakes as it calls out and encourages all members to come out, march and celebrate.

“It is even more important that we stand together in solidarity now more than ever. Love and unity will prevail over hate.” Sangha proudly stated.

Sher Vancouver helps to inform, educate, and bring about more acceptance and cross-cultural understanding surrounding LGBTQ issues including bullying, racism, and homophobia. Everyone is also welcome to join Sher regardless of gender, ethnicity and religious beliefs.
