MetroVan Independent publisher receives threat

Steve Marshall has been uncovering stories of wrongdoings by a number of people in the Filipino-Canadian community. He already has a suspect for one of two writings.

The crusading co-publisher of MetroVan Independent News received an uncharacteristic challenge that bodes of a possible war that no one knows with what tools of trade.  The RCMP declined to name it an outright death threat although a declaration to that effect was actually written. “You’re dead,” says the written threat.

Steve Marshall, the co-publisher of MetroVan Independent News received the threat by postal mail. Marshall has been uncovering stories of wrongdoings by a number people in the Filipino-Canadian community. He already has a suspect for one of two writings.

“My family is very alarmed of the threat sent by postal mail,” Marshall said.

“You’re Dead” and “F..k you Steve It’s a War!!!” There was one handwritten message written in two felt pens over top of a printed copy of our online article “Janice Lozano Juatco hit with default order for Loan non-payment.” Both lines look like they were written by different people.

“I’m determined to find out who would do such a gutless, cowardly act,” Marshall declared.

Threat Darkened cut-001

“I started to compare handwriting specimens of my list of suspects. My family was stunned that the very first person I checked matched the yellow handwriting. We couldn’t believe this person would do something like that. Each one of us could see precise similarities between the threatening note and a court document we had of this suspect,” he added.

A handwriting expert from Alberta likewise said he is of the opinion that the said suspect actually wrote the threats ordinarily viewed as normal expletives among people harboring ill will. Marshall forwarded a copy to the forensic company.

The expert’s opinion said “there is a strong possibility this is by one and the same writer as the comparative writing exemplar.” They can only do so much with a PDF document as they can’t view the pressure points accurately.

“I’m aware of who wrote the yellow text so now I’m looking for samples of other suspects for the pink ‘You’re Dead’ writing. The Y is very distinct. If anyone knows of someone with this type of handwriting please let me know, you will remain anonymous,” Marshall said in asking for community support.

The documents have been handed over to the police for forensic results.
